Because GIS-based methods of spatial data analysis and spatial data integration are quantitative, which can be complicated to non-numerate readers, the book simplifies explanations of mathematical concepts and their applications so that the methods demonstrated would be useful to professional geoscientists, to mineral explorationists and to research students in fields that involve analysis and integration of maps or spatial datasets. The book provides adequate illustrations for more thorough explanation of the various concepts.

All the figures in the book are gray-scaled.
In the absence of colors the figures are poorly distinguished.

Superbly written true crime

It's been many, many years since I've stayed up all night to finish a book, but this one did it for me.
Ann Rule is in top form in this book; her writing is quite well done, unlike many in the true crime genre. The book flows, and while no stone is left unturned, one doesn't feel exhausted and distracted by detail.
At first, I wasn't interested in purchasing this book, believing that since the case received a lot of national publicity and was so recent, I'd know beforehand what I'd read. But I was utterly wrong.
This is really Ann Rule's best book yet, and one of the best books I've ever read in true crime.

Detailed and insightful!

During the time covered in this book I worked as a federal law enforcement officer with an office at the Byrne Courthouse at 6th & Market Streets in Philadelphia, PA. I worked with most of the agencies mentioned by the author and I found the book gave me even more information than I already knew. The author really painted a portrait that makes one want to empathize even more with the Fahey family and her once hoped-to-be husband Mike. What a great piece of research and writing.

Deeply Nuanced Reporting

I am a burned-out former paralegal from Wilmington, Delaware. I knew Thomas Capano and Anne Marie Fahey. I followed the trial closely, and I have read all four true crime books based on this case. Even though Ms. Rule is not a local reporter, her understanding of Wilmington's unique political and social climate is much deeper and more nuanced than any of the other authors'. I strongly recommend this book, which is both a clear-eyed study of this case and a real pleasure to read -- fast-moving and yet deeply felt.

This book made my heart smile. I don't want to give anything away, as I want other readers to experience it as I did, but you may want to throw away any preconceived ideas you have about what a "witch" is. I loved this book because I know real people like the characters. I loved this book because I could feel the love between the two main characters. I loved this book because based upon it's definition of a "witch", I am one too. :-) The magic in this book is real... and we all have that magic inside of us.

Not Witchy

I was intrigued by the title, which suggested intimate knowledge of what true witches do, but to my surprise, it wasn't anything like that. It was more of a new age book written from the perspective of a young teenager who had to deal with an inaccurate rumor regarding her mother. I was already familiar with many of the new age topics that she brought up and I could sympathize with her feelings about wanting to have forbidden chocolate snacks, like Snickers, for example. The love story between Harmony and Jamaal is charming and innocent. It is full of enthusiasm and references to items that are popular with teens in today's times. I recommend this book to young teens who want to broaden their minds about diversity.

Better than the average textbook

After all of the textbooks I've been through, this was a breath of fresh air. it doesn't read like a text book and actually engages the reader.

If you read the preface etc, you see several folks assisted the author. From time to time the switch in gears makes this somewhat obvious and breaks the flow. Outside of that this would be the first text book I'd take the time to review.

very good book

This book is a very good and easy reader. I am not a big fan of textbooks but this one is really good. It is writting in a way that is easy to understand and using the language that young people use. I red most of it and many times I was roling on the floor because some of the chapters are really funny. The author gives real examples that help to understand the subject and make you realize things around you that you have never pay attention to.I was happy to read this book and I also met the author personally on one of the seminars. he is a young and very educated man , very bussy too.and he know what he is talking about.I would defenatelly recomend this book to students to learn something about sociology.

A good textbook

I am glad my teacher chose this particular book for our sociology class. This made the sociology concepts easy to understand, and I dare I say, actually interesting! It was not dry and difficult to read like other sociology books I have had to read in the past.
