Accessible and useful

Even for someone familiar with the concepts discussed in the book, I found it refreshingly accessible and useful.

I bought the Kindle version of this book, which comes with links to the author's webpage that includes other learning aids. I highly recommend the book for the following reasons:

1. The technical concepts are accurately explained, so readers are getting an excellent discussion of basic finance and investing.

2. The style of the book is conversational (it covers complicated concepts such as bond value/interest rate relationships from the simple story of Billy's Lemonade Stand) and non-technical.

3. It marries the nuts and bolts of a business model with investing. It disabuses anyone from thinking of investing as another form of gambling.

4. The progression from simple to sophisticated concepts is well paced and with the online resources, forms a good self-study program.

In the age of the television financial high priest whose claim to legitimacy is achieved by deepening the mystery of investing, Mr. Pysc has written a down-to-earth book that everyone who has a pension account, a college savings fund or brokerage account should read. At the very least, it would allow one to ask intelligent questions of our financial advisors.

Preston Pysh's Warren Buffett's Three Favorite Books is an excellent book. Regardless of what stage you are in your investment journey, this is one to be added to your personal library. Here are three main points as to why:

* Easy to understand with explanations of theory and how it would apply to the real world.
* Main aspects of how to find intrinsic value of a company for someone with even a basic understanding of high school math would have a eureka moment. Further, it adds an extra dimension to your eventual portfolio, namely, the importance of bonds as well as how and when they should be part of your investment to generate even more wealth...after all - they are 'husband and wife.'
* And Most important, the strategies are proven. I mean the main points of the book are about Warren Buffett's 3 favorite books. I think Mr. Buffett has done well in investing..need I say more?

I close off with a main point I learned from the book: Be a leader...be one of the few 'loan fishes!':)

May be useful for fresh investor, but not one who has read other value investing books before

I have finished read this book in 2 days weekend, and honestly, it's not about the price of the book (affordable), it's was the value of the book brought to me per price (for me, with out a doubt, is pretty low).

I found nothing new or a stunning discover in the book. But I guest the purpose of the author is providing a concise understanding/education on investing in the "right way". Overall, for many fresh investor it may a good start, but I prefer Buffettology of Mary Buffett over this book for beginner.

Except for the chapter about Adam Smith and "The Wealth of Nations", the book as it's clearly stated, limits but not fully decoded itself on the "cigarbutt approach" - Graham way , and missed a critical part of Fisher way - the part that made Buffett become the billionaire we know today

Spanish language version of the first pf the phenomenal Harry Potter series. An English lad embarks upon a life of magic and wizardry in a special school dedicated to that end. A fabulous read, it not only holds one's attention, but at the same time greatly enhanced my grasp of Spanish. It serves to entertain while reinforcing Spanish language skills. I recommend it to children of all ages who have any background in Spanish.

I love that this text book came three hole punched - ...

This text was so helpful throughout my Public Relations Writing class and is now still helpful that I am graduated. I love that this text book came three hole punched - I put the pages into a binder and it was much more convenient than a big thick, hard cover book. I was able to keep all of my class material in the same binder that my text was in and now I can go back and refer to all of that at once. I'd highly suggest not only the book, but getting it three hole punched from this seller.

About the Author
J. Timothy Wright gained his DDS from West Virginia University School of Dentistry and his MS/Cert from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he also completed a postdoctoral fellowship. In 1990 he received his board certification from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Since then he has been a member of the Graduate Faculty of the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, becoming Professor in the UNC School of Dentistry in 1995. Since 2004 Dr. Wright has been Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at UNC School of Dentistry. He has in the past also had terms as Colgate Visiting Professor at Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand, Visiting Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, and Gorlin Visiting Professor at the University of Minnesota. On three occasions Dr. Wright has won the William J Gies Award from the American Association for Dental Research. In 2006 he was appointed James Bawden Distinguished Professor at UNC and in 2012 he received an Honorary Lifetime Membership Award from the UNC Dental Alumni Association. He has served on numerous committees and other bodies, including as Chair of the American Dental Association’s Council on Scientific Affairs. Dr. Wright currently sits on the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s Scientific Affairs Committee and is President of the IADR Mineralized Tissue Group (2012-3). He is a member of the editorial boards of the Archives of Oral Biology and the Japanese Pediatric Dental Journal and is the author of 160 articles in peer-reviewed journals.

About the Author
John Ormsbee Simonds, who died in May 2005, was one of the 20th century's most important figures in landscape architecture and environmental planning. He was recognized worldwide for his visionary thinking and innovative spirit. Mr. Simonds' work and career spanned over 70 years, bridging an era during which the profession of landscape architecture expanded from a small number of individuals in the early 1900s to today's more than 30,000 of the most important land use and environmental planners in the United States. His many contributions, including Landscape Architecture, helped lay the groundwork for the focus on the environmentally responsible planning and design of today. Mr. Simonds was President and a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects, which awarded him its highest honor, the ASLA Medal, and its one-time Centennial President's Medal. He was a member of the President's Task Force on the Environment and the Florida Governor's Task Force on Natural Resources, and was a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Design in Great Britain.

Barry W. Starke has been a leader in the profession of landscape architecture for over 30 years. He graduated with a degree in landscape architecture from the College of Environmental Design at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1967. While at Berkeley, he was introduced to the first edition of Landscape Architecture, which became a major influence on his career. In 1974, he co-founded the award-winning, multidisciplinary landscape architecture and environmental design firm Earth Design Associates, Inc., and continues to serve as President. In 1988, he was elected to the faculty of the University of Virginia School of Architecture, where he taught Professional Practice. Mr. Starke served as the Centennial President of the American Society of Landscape Architects in 1999, leading ASLA's 100th-anniversary celebration. He is a Fellow of the ASLA, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, and currently serves as vice-chair of the Renewable Natural Resources Foundation. In 2003, Mr. Starke received the inaugural M. Meade Palmer Medal from the Virginia Chapter of the ASLA for outstanding contributions to landscape architecture.

Great overview of landscape architecture

This is really THE seminal instroductory book to landscape architecture. It's not really specific enough to be a true reference book, but it covers such a vast range of topics that it would be unrealistic to expect it to be. Instead, Simonds did a fantastic job of summarizing an amazingly broad field one subject at a time. Still, it is not so broad that the reader will fail to see the trees through the forest. It does include a lot of very helpful illustrations and explanations about such topics as spatial relationships and how they create different environments (and subsequently a particular design might be appropriate or inappropriate depending on the circumstances). But that is just one small sample of the kind of valuable lessons this book is filled with. I often start with this book when I approach a subject that is new to me because it gets me on the right track. In that sense, it's not just for beginners. And the 4th edition contains much-needed updates of the outdated photographs that are in the 3rd edition.

Great resource for site ploanning and landscape design.

One of the best books I have ever read, studied, about landscape architecture. Ideaogical and practical. Theoretical and functional. Easy to read. A good study of the natural landscape as the ecological basis for land use planning.
